Cubs is for children aged 7 to 11. 2nd Bergvliet is a mixed cub pack, we have both girls and boys. We create a fun environment where children learn through playing and develop skills. The term pack is used for a group of cubs because they are a pack of wolf cubs, taken from “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling. Cubs is a place where children’s imagination is sparked and “The Jungle Book” with all its different animal characters and wonderful story line, creates a lovely backdrop for our cubs.
At 2nd Bergvliet we have 2 cub packs, a pack that meets on Thursday called Lukannon and a pack that meets on Friday, called Toomai. Each weeks’ cub meeting has a planned program that is an even spread of games and fun, with a learning element to it.
Cubs are grouped into smaller units called “Sixes”. The Six had a leader, called the “Sixer” and an assistant leader called the “Seconder”. The sixes are a mixture of ages and abilities with the older cubs encouraging and guiding the younger cubs.
