The 2nd Bergvliet Sea Scout Group is based in Cape Town, South Africa. More specifically, the southern suburbs where the majority of our Scouts live. The Group’s scarf colours are blue and yellow. We wear navy blue shirts, shorts, and Sea Scout hats. We don’t claim to be the oldest Group in Cape Town, South Africa or Africa. We just claim to be one of the best. We were founded in January 1963 by Father Duffy of the Heathfield Monastery and Ed ‘Beaver’ Rose who was a well-known local Scouter.

In January 1964, the Scout Group converted from Air Scouts to Sea Scouts. In the next few years, use was made of a Scout boating facility near to the Imperial Yacht Club, Sandvlei, and Muizenberg in Cape Town. The Group later moved to the Sea Scout Base at Sandvlei where today we have two boatsheds with bunks and 2 Saldanha sailing dinghies.
