Springbok Scouts

The Springbok Scout Badge is the highest award a South African Scout can attain today.

As the 2nd Bergvliet Troop was only founded in 1963, we have no King or Queen Scouts. We do however have a number of Springbok Scouts, 63 in fact.

Springbok Badge

All our Springbok Scouts are recorded on an honours board which hangs in the Scout Hall. A tradition introduced in 1994 demands that the most newly invested Scout in the Troop re-hangs the boards at the presentation of a Springbok Scout Badge. The boards naturally reflect the name of the new Springbok Scout. An even newer "tradition" (1999) is that all old Springbok Scouts, whether they are Scouters or not, congratulate the new Springbok Scout individually just before the honours board is re-hung.

Links to photographs of many of our Springbok Scouts are included here. If you have a better photograph or one of a "missing" Springbok Scout, please e-mail Nigel Forshaw.
